THE ROLE OF FATHERHOOD IS UNDER ATTACK

Today more than ever we need Biblical Fathers.

1.  A biblical father raises his children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

2.  A biblical father doesn't promote his children to anger.

3.  A biblical father disciplnes his children when they are wrong.

4.  A biblical father gives wisdom and instruction to his children.

5.  A biblical father nurtures his wife.

Biblical Fathers make.,,, Wifes content, Children legitimate, and Homes complete.

Fathers or male role models help boys and girls develop...God created-parents for a reason!!!!

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD (4)

JACOB'S STORY

Jacob likes to win.  In his 2nd grade class at school he in an accelerated class-he and his dad spent 8 hours working on a project-a book report/visual of Charlotte's Web/many of the children did not even bother to do the report-dad and son reread the book together, examined the instruction sheet, discussed the book, the assignment, then laid out the project.  Jacob wanted to WIN and win he did He finished with a 100.  He is confident, comfortable-Do I have what it takes... every boy looks to his dad to answer this important question.

A successful business man may be trying to PROVE he is a man by TRYING to WIN dad's approval.

Every Little girl asks a similar question-in a different way.  "Do I have what it takes?  Am I attractive, am I intelligent, do you except me, value me and love me dad?

The greatest gift my dad gave me one day we were riding together, he looked at me and said..."Your mom and I love you very much and we are proud of you.  I was 19.  Those words sealed my identity within my soul.  Most fathers find it difficult to validate their children, because they have a wound in their soul!

Wisdom from the Word-"I have never seen the righteous forsaken."  (Psalm 37:25)

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD (3)

The Dad of Dad's for the Lord of Lords-Joseph was chosen to be the earthly protector for Jesus, but was not his biological father.  Joseph a descendant of David, was a man of integrity, honor, and loyality.  An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream telling him that the child that Mary was expecting was of the Holy Spirit (Mt 1:20)

Joseph protected Jesus, fleeing with his family (Mary and Jesus) to Egypt to escape the anger and murder plot of King Herod the Great.  He took Jesus to Jerusalem for the rite of purification/circumcision.  Then returning to Nazareth of Gaililee, Joseph raised his son in the knowledge of God as his Father and trained him in the family business of carpentry.

Every little boy is asking one basic question.  It is the secret of boys.  If you give a guy a bicycle.  He wants to see how fast it can go, he rides with no hands, jumping off the curb, making skid marks on the sidewalk-it needs noises, he knows how to make those noises, loud engine noises, screeching, crashing noises.  He is a motorcycle racer, a fighter pilot, a starship captain.  Every boy wants to be a hero, he want to be powerful, he wants to know...do I have what it takes?

Wisdom from the Word-"Thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us to triumph-as trophies of Christ's victory-and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere." (2 Corinthians 2:14)

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD (2)

The Father of Many Nations is Abram, as he was first named, a descendant of Noah's son Shem.  He was a man of profound faith, and was highly regarded wherever he went.

When Abram was 75 years old, God made a dramatic call on his life...He told Abram to leave Haran for a new land that God would show him.  He promised that he would make of Abram "A great nation (Gen 12:2) and vowed to bless Abram and give him a great name.  In answering God's call.  Abram gave up his pagan beliefs, gave up the ties to his family, and his status as a wealthy landowner.  Abram honored the Lord.  At 99, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham and gave him the promised son..."I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven and as the sand on the seashore...by your offspring shall nations of the earth gain blessings." (Gen. 22:17-19).  Abraham is honored as a righteous man, the father of the Levitical priesthood.  His consistent obedience to his call is an outstanding example of "faith."

Wisdom from the Word-"Choose you this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15)

AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD

Godly Dads

The Father knows best dad is Noah-Noah and his family lived in a world so violent and wicked that God decided he would no longer allow humans to exist-yet God singled out Noah to preserve life on the earth.

So righteous was Noah that God made a covenant with him.  A promise of safety for him and his family and a place of preservation for two of every animal on the earth.  God assigned Noah a 120 year project, telling him to build an ark of cypress wood coated with pitch inside and out.  God gave him precise instructions and dimensions.  Noah did everything JUST as God commanded-a rare person

Wisdom from the Word-"Yet amid all these thing WE are more than conquerors, and gain a surpassing victory through HIM who loved us." (Romans 8:12)

Thank you Father, for men who serve YOU! in Jesus name, amen.
