FATHER'S DAY IS ON THE WAY!

Respect for parents was not only expected, but quickly enforced by my mom and dad.  Father's Day was special-we always made a "cake," made cards (who had a dime to purchase a Hallmark?), and usually a shirt and tie were the gift of choice as was the soap-on-a-rope.  DAD ALWAYS was surprised and of course a BIG Sunday Dinner to celebrate HIS day-maybe a roast his favorite.  So many traditions have passed, but honoring dads should never be taken lightly.  My dad, a father of four daughters was quick to correct, left running the practical things of the household to mom, but mowed the lawn, washed dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, and made us clean up the house before bedtime.  Parents set the pace of the household.  My dad died when my sister was fourteen-the day he died her life changed.  I remember her saying she felt she lost both of her parents that day.  Life goes on...just different.

Wisdom from the Word-"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land..."Exodus 20:12

In Deuteronomy 5:16 the scriptures explain that by honoring parents that you will have long life, and that life will go well with you!  The favor of God is always a blessing.  Worth thinking about right?

TODAY IS THE DAY

"The fruit of the (Holy) Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness." Galatians 5:22  Today I am hosting an "Out of School Party" for my grandchildren.  They will play in the water, do bubbles, bowling in a home made alley-just for today, then pizza, punch and cupcakes.  Not fancy, but fun-also have hola hoop-for us-in a busy summer for them.  Precious moments are sometimes planned other times just captured.

MARRIAGE EVANGELISM

One in every two Christian marriages end in divorce.  Children are raised by single parents-often one or the other parent opt out, sometimes both.  So many grandparents are raising their grandchildren.  Marriage is precious -not to be taken lightly.  Many times working with couples I have found a deep bitterness develops.  True forgiveness is difficult, because of "word wounds."  In the middle of counseling each person is ready to play the blame game, because the other person has "failed."  Who can stand under the pressure?  Each person ends up losing, feeling ripped apart-remember Adam said in Genesis-"This is now bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh:she shall be called woman. (Genesis 2:3)  The joining in marriage is so intimate it causes us to become one, yet two individuals.  Like any other mystery of God marriage can be examined and both the man and the woman can become the creation that God invisioned for them to BE!  INTERESTED?  Do you want to be swept with the tide of contention (?) or are you willing to be the "rare" couple that makes a stand for righteousness????!!!!!  My slogan is as for me and my house WE will Serve the Lord!"  But I may need to take the first commitment to the Lord.  Then begin to pray for HIS will to be done!  Whatcha think about that?  Are you willing to take the OATH...I recommit to the wife of my youth (or husband)?  It is really easier to get a divorce than to work thru the issues-but the rewards are eternal.  Your example radiates in a world of darkness and God gets the glory.

Father, I commit to take responsibility for the wholeness I need for myself and to pray for my partner.  I trust you to make the crooked places straight and ask you to make me a teachable student in the school of the Holy Spirit.  Help me to stand FIRM in the process and put a guard on my mouth-let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be exceptable to you Lord my strength and my redeemer, in the name of my savior Jesus Christ, amen.

The Children's Corner

Johnny's mom asked him what he had learned in Sunday School.

"Well, Mom our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  When Moses got to the Red Sea, he had his engineers build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely.  Then he used his walkie-talkie to radio headquarters for reinforcement.  They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and saved the Israelites."

"Is that really what your teacher taught you?"

"No, Mom, but if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it."

Somethings are too good to believe!!  God is amazing!  His story is full of miracles!

AS A MAN THINKS IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE (Proverbs 23:7)

What do you think?  Insecurity is not truth.  God has so many thoughts that are positive, life changing, he has plans greater than you could ever imagine for YOU!  Now armed with that information are you ready to change the way you think?

We are held back by ungodly beliefs-unscriptural practices and limited vision.  God wants to raise the standard and it begins with our thoughts, then once our thoughts are lined up speak the Word of Truth-we have the MIND of Christ!!!  However unactivated it will not impact life for change.  Speak the Word, as you speak the Word of God it infuses your whole body with health, healing, new visions, new dreams, hopes and possibilities, memorize and activate the energy into your spirit, your soul, and your body!!!!

"Wisdom from the Word-"But He (Jesus), knowing their thoughts, said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.  A house divided against itself falls. " (Luke 11:17)

Solution #1- Bring your thinking in line with God's Word in 2 Corth 10:5"...throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing EVERY thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."  (imaginations are worries, fears, and negative self-talk)

Solution #2-Operate in PEACE according to Philippians 4:7-"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

Because Hebrews 4:12 is true..."For the Word of God is living, and active, and sharper that any two edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joint and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  How did Paul become the disciple we admire-by thinking the thoughts of GOD.  How can you become a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ-by thinking like Christ.
