ANGER WORKSHOP

What is the Purpose of Your anger?  When you feel affirmed or understood or accepted or bonded-you do not feel anger.  Your inner self says, ALL IS WELL!  Anger comes when you feel that your personal boundaries have been violated.

Anger is defined as an intent to preserve PERSONAL WORTH-anger is ignited when we perceive rejection or invalidation.  Whether or not that is the message intended by the speaker, the angry person feels that his or her dignity has been demeaned.  Christ offers great hope to those whose worth is not acknowledged by others.  Consider Jesus' parable in Matthew 13:45-46. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it."  This parable is God's willingness to give all that He has for one single soul.

Anger is an emotion that alerts within us an intent to preserve our ESSENTIAL NEEDS-When our essential needs are not addressed or when they are invalidated, the result is emotional turmoil.  We feel hurt and/or angry.  An angry person may protest: "Can't anyone understand who I am?  I've got legitimate issues that you should care about."  Unmet needs feed anger!  Philippians 4:19 tells us, "And MY God shall supply ALL your NEED according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."  We have to remind ourselves of the needs that ARE met in our life.

Anger occurs when our BASIC CONVICTIONS are challenged-It is difficult to know how to manage feeling of anger when our convictions are violated.  In Chapter 8 of 1 Corinthians Paul addresses angry disputes among church members in verse 1 he says, "Knowledge puffs up.  It is possible, he explained, to be so filled with good opinions that those opinions seem to give justification for unloving outbursts-being right can lead to being wrong."  Balance is found when anger is linked to a reasonable issue and is communicated in a proper manner.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR COOL-basic training (1)

The word for anger in the Hebrew is charah, which means "to burn or glow with rage," to be incensed.  This derivative appears 139 times in the Old Testament.  It refers to the fire or heat of anger just after it is ignited.

In Genesis chapter 4 we read about Cain and his brother, Abel.  When God rejected the offering of Cain-because it was not done according to God's instructions---Cain became jealous of the sacrifice made by his brother.  Cain was ANGRY.

The Lord confronted Cain, "Why are you angry?  (God was saying -"Deal with your anger"-If you don't...sin is ....at the door,  and it's desire is for you (to drag down).  You must master it.  God wanted this young man to master sin.  To control it-instead Cain immediately lured his brother Abel into a field and killed him.  People have continued through the generations to allow anger to rule over them, ignoring the fact that the problem is really between them and God.

When we live in a state of hidden, seething anger, eventually something happens to bring it out.  Ephesians 4:26, tells us that we CAN be angry, but we are not supposed to sin.  Life is filled with bothersome situations and circumstances.  On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being at peace and not angry at all, and 10 reaching a murderous rage) most people live life between 6-8, just before the boiling point

Just as God thought Cain was able to rule over his anger.  He thinks we are able also.  When we allow HIS strength to be perfected in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), it always turns out better.

Oh Lord, today we draw near to our loving creator who fashioned man from dust and breathed His breath of life into him.  "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of HIS glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time now and forever. Amen."

BOOT CAMP (2)

In 2 Timothy1:1-7, Paul encourages Timothy who was the son of a Jewish mom Eunice and a Greek dad.  Paul had ministered the Gospel of the Lord Jesus, Eunice, her mother Lois and Timothy have became believers of Jesus Christ.  The name Timothy means man who honors God.

Paul wants to make sure that Timothy continues to minister..."I have been reminded of your (Timothy) sincere faith...For this reason I remind you to FAN the flame the GIFT of God."  Paul in prison was concerned about the welfare of the churches because of the persecution under Nero.  He admonishes Timothy to guard the gospel, to persevere in it, to keep on preaching it, and, if necessary to suffer for it.

Wisdom from the Word-Commit thy works uno the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established ." (Proverbs 16:30)

Just like Timothy we go through times when we need encouragement help our faith.
